Switch to Smart Book

Switch field service software without pretending migration is a one-click magic button.

Bring your client list in by CSV, rebuild the operating settings you actually need, test the workflow, and keep an export path if Smart Book is not the long-term fit.

Export first

Keep an untouched copy of the source data before modifying a migration file.

CSV client import

Move customer records without retyping the client book by hand.

Rebuild intentionally

Use the switch to clean up schedules, team access, services, and billing settings.

Keep an exit path

Export supported Smart Book business data and keep cancellation separate from deletion.

Migration plan

A safer six-step switch.

1

Export your current customer list

Download the customer data your current system makes available. Review names, emails, phones, addresses, notes, and any columns you want to preserve.

2

Clean the file before importing

Remove obvious duplicates, confirm required fields, and keep a copy of the original export before changing column names or values.

3

Import clients into Smart Book

Use Smart Book CSV client import instead of retyping every customer. The exact fields available depend on the file exported by your previous provider.

4

Rebuild the operating workflow

Create services, recurring schedules, team access, estimates, invoices, payment settings, and communication preferences around the way your business actually runs.

5

Test before fully switching

Use the no-card trial and product tour to verify scheduling, technician My Day, estimates, invoices, and payment workflows before depending on Smart Book for daily operations.

6

Keep an exit path

Smart Book supports business-data export, and subscription cancellation is separate from workspace deletion so a billing decision does not silently erase the workspace.

Before you go live

Run a small lifecycle test instead of trusting setup screens.

Customer and service-location records are present
Recurring schedules match the intended frequency
Technician assignments and permissions are correct
Estimate and invoice numbering is ready
Stripe and customer payment settings are configured if needed
Email reminders and receipts are enabled only where intended
A sample job has been completed through invoice and payment
You know how to export supported Smart Book business data

Switching to Smart Book FAQ

Can Smart Book import customers from another field service platform?

Smart Book supports CSV client import. Whether the source is Jobber, Housecall Pro, a spreadsheet, or another system, the exact fields you can move depend on what that source lets you export.

Does Smart Book have a one-click migration from Jobber or Housecall Pro?

Not currently. Smart Book does not claim a direct one-click competitor migration. The supported path is CSV client import plus manual setup of the operational settings you want to use.

Can Smart Book import all job history, invoices, files, and payment records from another platform?

Not as a universal automated migration. Smart Book supports client CSV import, while deeper historical migration depends on the source format and is not represented as a guaranteed automated import.

Can I test Smart Book before moving everything?

Yes. Eligible first-time subscriptions get a 7-day no-card trial, and the public product tour can be viewed without creating an account.

What happens to my data if I later leave Smart Book?

Authorized users can export supported business data. Subscription cancellation and workspace deletion are separate actions, and scheduled deletion includes a recovery period before permanent deletion.

Can Smart Book help with setup?

The site currently offers free setup/import help as a Founding 100 launch benefit for eligible early businesses. Availability should be confirmed during onboarding.

Test Smart Book before you move daily operations.

Use the 7-day no-card trial to import a small client sample, configure one workflow, and run a lifecycle test before committing to the switch.
